Toilet

Now, I agree this title is unpleasant but it is definitely one of the essentials of daily living
I made some remarks in a previous blog of village experiences so added a comment. I am going to talk about Bollywood.

But we are all familiar with the modern flush system which started with the water tank being hung up higher near the roof and instead of a handle or a button a chain was attached for flushing the toilet. In our Saugor home there was the older non-flush system of typical  toilet (Tatti) where you sit squatting on a hole which opens outside the house wall and the city collector persons remove it manually on a daily basis for further disposal
Tatti is the Indian name for toilet which can also be used for the Fuzla itself. There are many words used for toilet in every language. Like for instance in England  "Loo" is commonly used You see  "Gentlemen" written for men to use this place everywhere In USA Toilet is used both for written and spoken language
The less educated persons not using the English word Toilet have their own version (in Pakistan) which I learned from my Bhabi who discovered this name from her neighboring less sophisticated women Called it " Sarkari Tatti"
What prompted me to write this is a Bollywood movie by the same name and it is hilarious as well as instructive The initial scenes reminded me of the similar process in first village experiences along with my sisters and mothers. In the village there was no concept of toilet and we all went outside (similar to the movie). It was a tough undertaking but later a toilet got built in our home, the non-flush type.

That is exactly what I am saying because I remember my sisters and neighbor girls (specially perdahwali) going out before dawn in freezing cold weather. Not very comfortable at all.
