"It happened one night" 1934 movie of the Hollywood legend Clark Gable That I saw a few yrs ago a couple times and thoroughly enjoyed it (Probably TCM channel) The whole story from beginning to end is taken up by Bollywood legends RajKapoor and Nergis in "Chori Chori" that I had not seen until recently on computer although I was familiar with its name from hit songs of that movie like Rasik Balma, Panchi banoon Urti phiroon, Aaja sanam madhur chandni men. etc. etc.
Sort of unofficial remake type of movie, as there are so many other Bollywood movies taking partly or completely from Hollywood. What had intrigued me in the 1934 movie was bus travel in USA at that time which reminded me of my own bus travels in Pakistan in my college days. Same seating arrangements and bus getting stuck at any time anywhere or bus stop for short periods and eatable sellers of various types I enjoyed and of course the same things seen in Chori Chori
Recently I watched on Roku a movie, series "The Village"That is the story of an English Village around the time of first WW So the picture is that of farmers and poor people and landowners rich people. Then the one school showing children beaten by the teacher just with a cane similar to what i had experienced in my village school
Amazing similarities of culture although Panjabi villages are more poor and less developed than the older English ones
