All that happened was some flights were cancelled due to weather when I landed for the first time on the US soil--Jan.25 1969 Saturday
JFK is a busy place and that was no surprise for me but due to cancellation of flights I saw some people's temper started flying. Yes granted everybody had his own destinations and time limits etc. to catch-up but it was a tough experience for me as I had spent a lot of time on the British soil learning courtesy and politeness under all circumstances. However I was not too unfamiliar with the common American attitudes so I was able to avoid altercations After standing in line for a short period I was able to get a room in "Holiday Inn as my flight to Cincinnati was available on the following day. I was a bit nervous as all I had was thirty-five bucks in my pocket and all my luggage. Fortunately (it was enough, as) I managed paying 17 dollars and 85 cents for the night and the mini breakfast in the morning costing less than a dollar. The room was very comfortable yet I could not sleep well. Amazing thing was I forgot my camera in the taxi that brought me to the hotel and as I rushed back the cab-man (an African-American) was still there who handed me back my camera.
Once in Cincinnati I was lodged in my own room and started work the day after (Monday)
