Yesterday was 47th Anniversary of my first job here in USA
As I learned that each state in USA has its own Government but also I must have driving licence different too and as I found many other things unique to each state I declared
This is not United states but Dis-united States of America.
Of course it was more in a light mood that such expression came out but I am realizing today on a much more serious scale the truth of my statement.
Of course you are all familiar with Katrina and its disastrous results for New Orleans and politically for the Bush Government and the whole country. Now I have become aware of a similar situation in Flint (Michigan) a simple case of water pollution and lead-intoxication of the whole population of Flint for 17-18 months before any steps are taken to stop and save the poor people.
I was first 'mad' at the doctors who (in my understanding) should have raised hell with the authorities as soon as they started seeing cases of lead poisoning, but as I became aware of the whole story (Latest in Times Magazine) I am stunned how to save a few bucks the officials concerned for water supply of the city ignored, overlooked, even ridiculed obvious evidence of polluted water (first smell change, then color change and then all symptoms of body rashes etc.) and let the delay continue before any measures were taken for saving people children pregnant mothers and all.
Such things are not uncommon in "third world" cities, poor countries backward countries and the like but see that happening right here in the USA is simply unbelievable. Mr. Michealmoore calls it clearly a "racial crime"
I remember in Pakistan there was one time when one city was hit by very bad diarrhoea cases and the Government "made cover-up" saying it is NOT Cholera but just severe Dysentery situation whereas the Bacteriologist (who was known to me and he had sent the correct report to the Government authorities) had confirmed that it is Cholera Vibrio.
