This Bollywood movie was made in 1965 Meena Kumari and Pradeep Kumar are the couple but for the classical love triangle Ashok Kumar comes in.

Story here is quite different and very Indian. Although you could say that the tragedy part (Hurried walk of Meena Kumari for engagement (not wedding) party, meeting the traffic accident and developing paraplegia) has obvious similarities but why the hero does not know is way different and is related to Extremely jealous lover for Hero (who hates her) played by Shashikala, who is responsible for all this.
I was expecting that Shashikala will admit her mistakes and apologize or something to that effect (usual in Indian stories) but that part by the writer is totally ignored whereas I think some mention (whatever way) should have been made because her extreme jealousy makes an extremely important part of the story
The other thing missing is the important dialogues of Pradeep Kumar and Meena Kumari when the reasons unfold and it remains for Ashok to give the surprise, and these are different from Hollywood story but could have been done more effectively and Meena Kumari is given no dialogues at all which is glaringly deficient in the story. Ashok Kumar's previous wife and her resemblance (with Meena Kumari) is made part of the story but not given proper significance in the story with the result that Kamini Kaushal's part though important remains minimal.
Well these are my feelings after having seen this movie, but it was nice and I would consider this a different movie from "Love affair" of Hollywood, certainly not like "Mann" (which is true copy of Affair to remember or Love affair)
