There are more than nine million humans in refugee status today in the world. The largest and oldest of them (since 1948) are Palestinians.
I often wonder if he (Lord Balfore) was alive today what would he think about his statement,
"A land without people for a people without land". More than four million of those "people' were considered "not people" by that statesman. What was he thinking? I wonder.

A lot of info on the TV today about their plight especailly Iraqis. Many such "days' have come and gone without any foreseeable solution. What does UNO expect to help them for ONE DAY out of three hundred and sixty five, by 'recognising' them? I wonder.
To watch the sad and pitiful conditions of the refugees on TV is so heart rending. We have personal experiences of being 'refugee' at one time or the other in our lives and the horrors flash back, opening those painful doors that time has been trying to close.
Yes, We as human beings can help them in our "home areas" as they arrive, but can we, ever, reduce the numbers? Can UNO put a stop to wars? Can UNO solve the situations that create refugees? Is'nt UNO composed of real human beings? After all, refugees have not been created by tsunamis or such natural disasters. We, the humans, create these situations.
Come tomorrow, all will be forgotten again about the plight of those human beings called "refugees"

salaams abbu! yes, that is something that has always bothered me immensely - that we (humans) are willing to do whatever it takes, i.e., create devastating situations, to get what we want, but we do relatively so LITTLE to FIX those situations - as long as it's brown-skinned people suffering somewhere far away, governmental bodies can just shrug their shoulders and say, what else can we do? - even with hurricane katrina, it wasn't the white people suffering as much, and that was here in our own country!
