Major Dr Merajuddin merhoom

August 4-5(the night of) almost 28 years ago I lost my older brother who was my friend, my mentor my guide and my supporter and father all put together and for 8 years my bhabi reminded the date  until she also died. May Allah grant hem both high places in Jannah.
So it is kind of a personal note
Every person young or old who met him or shared any moments life with him or in his company fell in love with him. I remember at his funeral I was consoling  crying grieving patients and friends of him. Yes he was a popular doctor in the city, a life he chose for himself after rejecting offer of higher education in England from the army leaving as Captain. He had envisaged that type of life following our father who was a Hakeem(Qualified from Dehli, student of Hakim Ajmal Khan) in a city with similar popularity
His home visit fee in those days was 10 rupees and I went with him for one visit where the patients relative (a wealthy industrialist) offered him five bills of 10 rupees and he picked one out of them. That is the principle of medical practice
Both him and I were brought up like that with strict ethical principles which are not much known now adays. We both had learned from our father's medical practice. He led a simple life. I remember Bhabi frequently asked him to get a car and stop visiting patients on his bicycle and he said that may be prohibitive for poorer patients to ask for visiting patients. So he delayed buying a car that he could afford years before even
Stict principles that was important though I may have not been as strict in my practice but Bhaijan Meraj did. May Allah reward him high positio in Jannah

I mentioned his principles of practice and add here that he treated free of charge two of the sports personalities that I know though there may be more in Gujranwala (I also know Qari saheb who was Imam of new Masjid was treated free)
One was a Hocky player whose name I do not know and he was a member of the Pakistank hockey team which won the championship in Rome (1960) and I visited the ground where they played during my visit to Rome (Bhaijan Meraj was himself a hocky player in high school)
A secon was Younus Pehelwan who had lost Panjab title to Accha pehelwan (Aslam, adopted son of Gama, the great) he actually supported Yuonus Family so much that remember Younus daughter wanted a TV on her wedding and my brother bought one for her as Younus could not buy
