My comments, for whatever reason will be restricted to The British Royalty
Yesterday a British Prince and his commoner wife decided to step back from royal duties, whatever that means (Harry and Meghan)
Makes a big news worldwide and specially USA.
Well, this marriage was the result of pure and simple "love". Love between princes/princesses and commoners always makes an attractive story and must be arousing some feelings in many commoners how to trap a prince/princess. This love seems to be rather examplary when you consider King Edward VIII abdicating from the so much powerful British throne of twentieth century, a most remarkable preference to marry a divorced commoner (was'nt extraordinary beauty either to look at) rather than ascend to the British throne. It certainly aroused a lot of controversy in the public and the royal circle enforcing the royal rules.
Google told me first it had happened in 17th century James II married against all odds a commoner and later lost his throne from other reasons more political and religious than personal
Moreover that resulted in the revolution so that Parliament became more powerful than the King. Nowadays the Royals are more a historical vestige than anything special unless you have Princess Diana's beauty. The relatively less common marriages of this type in the past were related to royal interests rather than royal love which has become more common in 20th century - King George VI, King Edward VIII, Prince Charles Prince Harry, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward and Princess Margaret. Now considering all this who cares if these young royals dont want to be royal any more and be free to do their own things. I watched the TV program of "Windsors" and also the "Crown".
