This is an unusual comparison but I just saw a film named WATER directed by the talented IndoCanadian Deepa Mehta and it prompted me to look deeper into her films etc and it reminded me of Saadat Hassan Minto merhoom who was critical and controversial writer He exposed the 'filth'of the society with topics considered a no no. His writings like 'Thanda Gosht' or 'Khole do' or 'Jahan raten jagti hen awr din sotay hen' are known to me
Seeing the 'Triology'of Mehta bring out Lesbianism in Fire and Partition (India-Pakistan) problems in Earth and Water depicting the despicable life of young-old widows in Hindu teachings leaves me in utter amazement how deftly she has performed as Minto did in Urdu writings (stories and novels)
Deepa has used her talent in brilliant fashion similarly and won a number of awards and lot of accolades especially in the West with a lot of criticism from Hindu followers for obvious reasons So then I discovered the reason why most of the actors/actresses in 'Water' were Christians or Muslim in the cast.

Interesting I came across another such movie where the writer//director has put Hindu death routines and traditions on critical balance Indeed there is a lot of things so unusual and the name of the movie is
Goodbye
Amitabh plays the Man whose wife dies and children all come over from all parts of the world and mkae their criticsms on these tradions from closing of eyes to the throwing of ashes in ganges
Worth your time if you watch it
