We are born with all capabilities which develop, grow and reach perfection with time as we grow
However after some time of functioning at peak the abilities start decreasing until wihtout some support or enhancing measures it is not possible to function
Let me clarify with two examples.
1. Deficiency of vision
2. Deficiency of hearing
Let us say somebody has Myopia, such decreased visual ability requires scientifically determined lens for assisting the defective lens of the eye to complete the function thereby offset any difficulties.
Similarly if acuity of hearing when decreased requires scientifically appropriate digital or other enhancers of sounds reaching the ear's 'sound receiving apparatus' so you can hear the speech or music more clearly.
So far so good.
Now consider the equipment used for the two - the visual and the auditory 'mechanical' enhancers
Glasses: A pair of beautiful, golden frame or other beautiful frames containing the appropriate lenses are worn and the job is done. Here one thing is to be noticed. The frame, its shape, golden or silver or plastic of various colors etc. has its own effect on the appearance of the wearer (his face that is) and thus may enhance the beauty, attractiveness, dignity etc. of the person.
In the case of ears the device worn looks ugly unbecoming and suggestive of old age etc. So the makers tend to develop devices that stay within the ear canal so that they are not visible. No clear alternative device has been developed so far that will have enhancing effects of dignity or beauty etc.
For a minor repair of my pair of glasses I visited an "Optical store" or shop today. A young man of moderate height, good physique was trying to choose a frame for his new pair of glasses. He would put one on and will look at this face in the mirror from various distances to make him feel comfortable that what he was going to buy. He had no girl friend/wife/partner with him to advise.
I was waiting till he gets done and the technician gets free for attending me. I tell you he continued that process of looking in the mirror with varying distances changing the frame and repeating the same action until well after 20 minutes when he felt he has found the right one for him. Anyway, I waited patiently until my turn.
What I wish to add here is that I have 'hearing aids" too but since I cant function without them so I wear them regardless of how I look or what these machines do to my appearance or dignity etc. I have therefore 'personal' experience of these uncomfortable, unattractive extra tubes in my ears because "within-the-ear" or smaller ones cannot do the job for me so I have what they call OTE -over the ear type that I have been wearing.
Then my hearing got worse so much that my right ear hearing aid became insufficient for me. I ended up having to have a Chochlear implant surgery done.- more tubes and wires on the ear and head. So, believe you me, I know what I am talking about.
