Jum'ah Journal. "Shasha Eid concept"

It was a very difficult Ramzan in my village Kotla. I was "young" enough to Fast in June-July of Punjab, with only airconditioning or cool place being under the shade of a tree near a well with the sight of cool refreshing water of the well in sight presenting an inviting gesture for the dried up tongues of the rozay-dar who must wait till the sunset time.
No ice was available then or the last "lorry" from Gujrat bringing a big piece of Ice to be sold immediately and I would wait my turn to get a piece for home in a couple of Annas.
We would fill up a cool glass of water and sit and wait for the "AllahoAkber" sound of the nearby masjid's Moazzin at Mahgrib.
It was a happy Eid after full Ramzan and( inside) I was happy it is over but I found the next day my mother and father fasting again. I was surprised, why again and it is still so hot and they are old. Mother told me,
" Yeh shasha eid kay rozay hain" and sure they completed the 6 fasts of Shawwal.
These (6 fasts of Shawwal refered to as shasha-eid) are optional and whoever completes them in this month gets the rewards as if he/she fasted the whole year. Good thing is they dont have to be completed in 6 days, you can spread them out two or three a week to finish before the month of Shawwal finishes. I usually fast mondays and thursdays.
May Allah accept all your Qiyam, Siyam and Sadaqat etc. and all good you have done in this month and rewards for you and your family.

Really interesting, i went to Sadwal from Kotal two days back, there was large oak( Bargad) tree on right side the old well i forget the name of owner of that well, that was famous well and all carvans who travel across the bhander were served from water of that well. Now presently on right side is Girls Degree College recently established. and bridge is also on Bhandar and now people dont have to wait for long time in case of flash flood(Kang) in the Bhander.I want to move bare foot in the water which i was used to do when i was child. We have habit of daily going to Bhander and it is considered to be best recreation in our area. The good scenary of Kashmir mountains and top of them snow peaks which always covered with snow whole year. Now due to climate change we cant see these mountains regularly....Any way have a good day and regards,
Ayaz

Thank you both (Mystic and Ayaz) for going through my note.
Ayaz has however triggered lot of things in my mind by describing the Sedwal and well-water.
My nanajan marhoom is burried in Sidwal (Wadda or Sidwal Kalan) and before going to Sidwal there is Sahontra village where my father marhoom was born and my great grandfather is burried in Sahontra, his grave now is included within a new masjid. This small village was the place my ancestor from Kashmir had chosen to stay in (Going back to about 1760). Yes my family history myself and my brother (The late Dr. Merajuddin)have unearthed
