Get together at Sumaira's/+11th

        This was a Unique occasion Nailah from England was there and Ayesha from here met for the first time My two daughters and thats why i call Sumaira as my third daughter though she is daughter of Maj Gen. Muzaffer Andrabi.

 Sumaira is married to Dr Saleet and they make a wonderful couple live in Maryland

Along with Musa Issa Ayah Zaid Adam and Rabiah with Hassan making this get together

Real memorable 

 Well it was  another program of dinner at Hassans place where everybody was invited and I got to attend But after dinner suddenly a birthday cake appeared and it turned out a surprise birthday celebration for me and yes I enjoyed it as did the the whole group and all my children and grandchildren from both sides of the great pond

 I celebrated later on Sunday offering 94 Nafel prayers thanking Allah SWT to have given me such wonderful life complting 93 years

Manufactured stories

This is becoming difficult to write or remember to write blogs although some "stories" do crop up in my old brain that I want to transfer to a "page". Today on UTube I heard a story about Nedo (not correct spelling)Hotel on the Mall in Lahore  I was familiar with it during my time in Lahore and that it was changed to (present day) Awari Hotel.

The commentator talks about Col T E Lawrence (Yes the same Lawrence of Arabia) who stayed in that hotel and met many other big shots playing (classical British high handedness in the removal/downfall of Amanullah the king of Afghanistan, also Kashmir, Sheikh Abdullah his Ghaddari for Kashmir etc etc I had thought He died in a motorcycle accident  as he returned to England after his Arabian experience.

             These days of fake everything and all Utubers who enjoy writing fibs and fakes I have started feeling sometimes disgusted from reading/seeing such things on U-Tube but Lawrance is noy an ordinary army officer He indeed was a calssical British Spy who played  some part in destroying Muslim influence and he did succeed everywhere He was in Lahore 1928-9 admittedly a short period for having success in his mission

 Dr Nasir Baig seems to be a well-educated speaker and collects a lot of real information

 from different sources. I was definitely surprised to listen to his account which may have been embellished to some extent

   I have written about filmi music previously twice or may be three times Many songs tunes are derived from one or more Rags here I have found the following Rags to be most popular;

    1. Rag Bhairaween     -   more than 30 popular songs

Physicians Art and relation with Patient

 There was a similar heading in 2010 but here I wish to talk here about "patient-physician" relationship

   There are several (new) problems of physicians (Physical) touch with a patient especially with modern advances like Ct  and MRI scans which is what keeps the physician busy, looking at the pictures or results and then he has more  eye contact with the computer screen than the patient where he finds all the info needed for diagnosis and treatment The healing from therapeutic effects of Physician touch even if just holding hand is becoming less and less with modern technological advances.

I have a long experience of all kinds of patients, children, and adults etc and have many memorable experiences but here I wish to relate an extremely  exciting example that I recall

 In a small hospital in England, I was looking after adult male and female patients and some pediatric ones too. A 3-4 year old girl was admitted in our childrens ward with "Failure to thrive" diagnosis

 She was able to sit unaided but could not stand or walk. There was almost no speech though she understood all that was said to her. There was no smile or any other emotional expression. That is severe physical and social retardation.

 The background was; no father or mother and no other father figure or such relations in the family. She was just abandoned. The whole circumstances picture I dont remember but you have got some picture now and she was up for adoption

  Her height and weight were those of two year old. I visited her daily and spent some time trying to play with her and sure enough in a couple of days she started responding to me The nurses told me she calls me Daddy So I started playing like a daddy with her  what we do with child patients anyway and she looked forward to my daily visits.

 I was amazed as were the nurses who were recording her height and weight as the graff was rising significantly and she started walking in one week, was speaking with everybody and evidently her sociability was advancing rapidly every day.

 I felt proud of of my person as a physician as well as felt humility

 Soon afterwards a family adopted her and I dont know if she progressed further. I guess she did.

Three Talaq Law in Islam/revisited

        I have talked about Divorce in Islamic understanding in my Urdu blog in which

    I have written in English some aspects about what is called "three Talaq" so please see it there.

   My main reason for this reminder is that among Muslims it is generally considered to  always utter the word talaq three times instead of just saying one time, like saying by the Husband (A)  "I divorce you" and (waiting for the Iddat period to finish,  talaq is completed. So after that if the couple wants to go back together  they will have to have a new nikah with (A)  If this process is repeated for TWO more times that will complete three Talaqs after which they cannot remarry with each other. Another situation of three successive talaqs is Husband says talaq one time and re-establish relationship before ending of Iddat period and this happens two more times  Now this husband (A) cannot marry that wife again UNLESS the wife marries somebody else (B) and lives a normal life with B and he cannot pull on with her and he (B) divorces her and she finishes iddat period then and only the she can remarry Husband A, if agreeable

     Unfortunately, in most of the dramas and movies I see from Bollywood or Pakistan, the divorce shown is the three times Talaq (in one sitting) even though it was said only one time (I just saw a drama of Halala). I have never seen any Bollywood or Lolliwood movie or drama in which one time talaq is shown. There is one Bollywood movie, an old one  "Nikah" in which this question is shown with clarification (Starring Raj Babbar) Any Talaq in such dramas is always taken as three talaq type (one sitting) and this was taken as three successive talaqs first  by our second Khalifa Umar RA and he had reasons which other close Sahaba including Ali RA agreed

Filthy rich family

   1 -   Filthy (meaning the same also) rich family of the Shareefs (take opposite meanings)

   Well this made me feel so sad and angry that Maryam Nawaz just bought a luxury airplane

 "Well this family is one of the richest family in Pakistan and has been for over half a century. The price of the Plane is in Millions of dollars (Try converting into Pakistani currency). Add to it the maintenance, salary monthly of  the two pilots (Foriegn, even though Pakistanis are the best pilots in the world), Price of fuel,  spareparts, taxes etc. etc. is also in millions .

  Well they have the money so she can buy anything but where is she going to travel and what is the important engangements she must keep (currently not serving Pakistan Government but maybe  the government is on her personal service?) Maybe she needs to go shopping to Paris or America every so often.

  2 -  It reminds me of other filthy rich people like Trump or "Raja Hari Singh" of Kashmir 

If you know Urdu and want to see the detail of this Raja you should read QudratUllah Shahab book . ShahabNama

 He describes this type of richness using an example of how the raja used to clean himself after toilet. The servants will take about one "Thaan Lattha" (about 30-40 yards or maybe less of white cloth) and pull back and forth under the Tashreef of the Raja to clean daily and then leaving/donating that cloth for the poor people of Kashmir. The process described in full detail only Shahab Saheb's pen can do.

 3 - Trumps It is horrifying to know how much the sons and son-in-law of this President is making money from selling war material like Drones where they are being manufactured, yes his family member own such places I have given only one example about which I found out Long time ago when he was first elected President I said the Americans have made a huge mistake by electing this Megalomaniac or MAGAlomaniac, a known womaniser, a loudmouth boaster with fakes and fibs.  He was already known to have these charachteristics. Unfortunately he has now done all the damages that he could do to the whole world and not just America or The position of the President of USA

Wake up my American fellows, calling him idiot now is not helpful, so think about this when you go for voting next

  Today I heard Barak Hussain Obama spoke at the funeral of Rev Jackson

    I am always impressed by Barak Obama speech but he recounted Jesse Jacksons life in brief pointing out very important features that matter for the Americans. The words he expressed about Trump and his administration without naming were very  true and  stinging and sarcasting. It is a treat to listen to him and I invite you to do that

"we are living in a time hard to cope. Every day we wake up to some assault on our democratic institution"   

 "We find some Americans are more "american" than others and some dont even count at all" 

 "Everywhere we see greed and bigotry being celebrated and Bulling and mockery masqurading as strength" 

 We see science and expertise denigrated while ignorance and dishonesty and cruelty and corruption are reaping untold rewards every single day"

Forgot to write this blog

  It seems I forgot to write this blog

Now I tried to open it and discovered even the title had not been written This clearly proves my memory deficit is interfering in my activities. I have noticed  "word-finding" type of problems for about a couple of years now Other aspects of "senile Dementia" are not yet noticable but  how long more I can wait 

I have been aware of learning new things difficulty for over a year also. So gradually  what Quran calls "Arzal-el-Umar" is here for me. 

  The Quran mentions about "things you knew and remembered are now escaping your memory" or something like that which is the  prominent feature of the onset of Senility. I have to adjust and readjust things I do and the timings as to how to remind myself even my Namaz which gets disturbed. It is the "immediate" memory that is giving me hard time. Readers may also notice some poor words in my expression, Driving and trying to find/follow correct roads/streets is to say the least, very challanging

I have previously written blog  (See Dec. 13 2024) on this subject and thats why it reminds me of those days when the movie made this more like a slogan in 1980. I t seems more than one movie was made with this title

Awara Dil

     Hay apna dill to aawaara najanay kiss pe aa-ay ga

I enjoyed such songs as if they were expressing my own condition/feelings  like:

  Jawanian ye must must bin piyay,  jalati chal rahi hen rah men diyay

na janay in men kiss kay wastay hun main

na janay in main kawn hay meray liyay   -  meray liyay

 I was just thinking about these songs today and I remember I tried to sing it as a presentation along with Zaheer who could sing some too with all or some classfellows who got together in Lahore on our 25th anniversary of graduation

  But it did not work out as our talk/discussions did not go in such direction There had been assessination of BeNazir Bhtto that week

Heart and its Rhythm

                  December brings a year to an end and makes us reflect over the last year or years of our lives.

   From the title one would think of all kinds of heart functions but Rhythm relates to its physical function only.   My heart has had rhythm problems for decades but has undergone more changes over the last 5 years, more so than before. All over my life or at least about 75 years my BP always was 120/80 plus minus 10 Maximum systolic in later years never more than 142 systolic but after my little renal stone it shot up and now I have regular hypertention needing medication to control. As for rhythm it is stable with medications and today it all checked out fine but the pacemaker has only 7 months life of battery left which will need changing  with a new one

    In addition diabetic tendency seems to have increased too, along with all other  problems As I used to say if you live long enough you are going to have diabetes

Well on the whole I thank the Almighty who has given me so many years of healthy life and still have His grace for keeping me good with almost normal mind - just some memory difficulties 

Have now to look forward to the year 2026 and beyond. . . .

That was a memorable period of my life

Nawafil pooray 92

Today is that day when one feels like going over all the previous years/days of life , good or bad or not so bad all included

Well here it is folks (Nazireen in Urdu), I have had a busy morning by myslef. After the sunrise, (actually exactly 15 minutes after sunrise time) I decided to say "thank you" to my Creator offering Him ninety two Rakaat Nafil (Plural Nawafil) each one for each year of this wonderful life He has graced me with. As expected from my dwindeling powers of memory I had lot of problems so I had taken a precaution of keeping an account of the numbers but still got forgetful in my recitations of surahs. Until I took up easy verses I had learned in childhood and in my first year studies of Islamiyat class - the last ten surahs of Quran, which was a shortened easier system also I had learned in my village mosque with poorly educated Imam who used them twice during Ramadan taraweeh to make complete twenty.That solved the problem, still it took me well over an hour to finish. then made my dus for myself and all important family persons

May Allah SWT accept my efforts

USA Organ Donation sytem problems

It is so distressing to see the news of legal and ethical problems in our country. Greed and  inhuman disregard in carrying out this process indicating that Satan keeps winning everywhere. Criteria are all well established about brain death but circulatory death is also being used which sometimes even leads to improper diagnosis of death from heart failure, incomplete death  and wrong diagnosis being used for procuring organs. Why would such doctors not be with loss of licences to practice medicine I dont understand.

   Thats why I am so critical of the Americam Medical Association who should have and exercise more power to bring such horrible activities in medical profession. There has always been lack of enough available organs to meet the demands that always exceed but that should not lead to getting organs out of almost living human beings and the quality/sustainability of organs must be kept in mind

PRIDE celebration

"Pride"  (See also my blog of May 2nd 2015)

A name chosen for LGBTQ organization or group of gay people whatever you may call but Satan made them choose such name. Telling us to be proud of being like people of Loot AS (Lot in english)

  Amazing and sort of eye-catching  while for me being normal this is just amazing why are people coming out in large numbers in the streets to show support of these abnormal people sort of if you make an organization of one eyed persons and call it some thing like smart vision.  It reminds me of a Quranic expression

 Zayyan-shshaitaan-o- aamaalahum  (Satan made their deeds look/feel nice to them) You remember the story of the fox who lost the tail in some cage or something like that?

 Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trandgender and Queer are persons who have either due to hormonal or other abnormalities or some other reason especially psychological abnormalities patients who are currently being considered "Normal" human beings and so they do not seek medical advice or treatment/therapeutic approaches. 

     "Thats the way God made them"

And thats true medically speaking but then all other abnormalities like somebody born with  six fingers or squinting eyes or harelip etc  they would go for therapeutics but not if child shows signs of same sex liking ot love or preferring  same sex acts. Of course not all such persons can be treated medically speaking. But all other aspects of such persons are like other human beings and should be given the same respect that you would give to a person born with squinting eyes or whatever and NOT laugh at them

a Special Day today

Yes indeed May 8th

       Some classical writers have written things like:

Aik Gadhay Ki SirGuzasht (Story of a Donkey)

Or some such articles giving this "downtraden" but very useful animal that God has created for us. No I cant write about what and how useful he is for human beings even though he is not remembered with good names or feelings We even use the name as a name calling or abuse

  I found that Today is WORLD DONKEY DAY

That is the first time I have seen/known some respect being given to a real "gadha"

Fifty years

  Well, that is a celebration of its own kind, having lived with the same person for fifty years sharing everything of life This  by itself an achievement. The day actually was 28th of March to be exact

 So we tried to hug each other and it was not so easy for both of us- unstable on our feet and taking help from Walkers for ambulation

Yes we are celebrating, alHamdulillah

Unfortunately I cant bring a photo of us together-- amazing we have kept away from getting pictures together

I will ask daughter to help

My friend Zulfi

 Originally I had not thought of this subject but I decided to day to jot down about this man for the remarkable life he had

   Syed Zulfiqar Haider , his full name but amongst friends he was known by this common  abbreviation of "Zulfi" He was just a couple of years older than me (was oldest in our group and there is a story behind why he was late in his educational achievement) but among the "friends" who are also "partners" he was called affectionately as Daddy or Pitaji or just by "Buddha" depending on the situation or mood but we all loved him anyway.

    In our Medical school many friendships start with "partnership" made according to Roll numbes and Partners for dissection (of human body) in practical anatomy class So we were , Wahaj + Zafar Bhutta and Zaheer + Zulfi on each Lower limb (alloted to us.). For some reason on the upperlimb of same body was Sarwar Frooki (there is a reason why we spell it as such and not Farooki) who became part of "partnership".

This was necessary to explain this special "friendship."  We had made purposeful close friendship so all of us made bare all our "life secrets" to each other in our first year early. That is how I know about Zulfi and his wonderful life and he himself told us that he has always been lucky to get so much which he did not consider he was deserving of it all and he wondered ahow and why he got all that.  Skipping the rest of his life's good and bad things, I will only mention about his death which occured in the beginning of this Islamic year. He belongs to Kattar Shia family and he had a stroke early in the year but he breahted his last on 10th day of Muharram and was burried on the 13th (See my previous blog on Muharram and Zulfi)

  So amazing for me to learn as his death is so exhalted too (as if the malkulMaut knew his likeness or preference for that day) He called himself Lucky and then to die on such important date and yes he was. Inna Lillahi wa. . . . . .

Twentieth of January, special?

There are important events associated for Americans on this date as there is Presidential ceremony on this day every four years. 

But for me today in our home there is first experience of severe cold of this winter that I did not see as much in NC residence O! I have had expereinces like this before in my life both in England (Was in Durham, Bishop Auckland for a couple of years) as well as in US (was in Cincinnati Ohio for four years)

 So it is not new but it brings to my mind older experiences. Remembering that first time I saw snow was in my visit to Murree in Pakistan

No we did not forget 15th January, children got together here with a small piece of cake and a candle to sing happy birthday to their mom
